1. Introduction

You are visiting a website that is part of the online network of the Keesing Media Group B.V. and its subsidiaries (‘KMG’), the largest publisher of puzzle magazines in Europe. KMG consists of multiple brands that offer print and digital products. This Privacy Statement applies to all KMG products, websites, services, and activities (collectively ‘products and services’) unless they explicitly use their own privacy statement.

In this statement, we explain what personal data KMG processes about you, for what purposes and on what basis. We also explain how long we keep your data, with which parties we share data and what your rights are in terms of this data; for example, the right to access or delete data. In doing so, KMG will comply with all relevant laws and regulations, including the General Data Protection Regulation (‘GDPR’).

5. Provision of data to third parties

The KMG group

Your personal data may be exchanged with or made available to the other entities within the KMG group that use this Privacy Statement for the purposes mentioned above. Insofar as personal data are exchanged between the KMG group, this is done on the basis of KMG’s legitimate business interest in order to conduct an efficient and responsible business.

Processors

KMG may use the services of third parties to process your data in accordance with this privacy statement. The third parties act as processors for KMG and KMG will ensure that these parties provide adequate safeguards with respect to technical and organisational security measures. Third parties acting as processors for KMG have entered into a processor agreement which includes that they will only process data on behalf of KMG.

Transfer of business

KMG may transfer its business, subsidiary and/or services to a third party. If so, your personal data will also be passed on to the party concerned. If this is the case, KMG will notify you in advance. If you no longer wish to use the services of KMG, you can request the deletion of your data.

KMG may send your data to advertisers and social media parties that offer certain services on the websites and apps of KMG. Your data will also be passed on to other parties outside KMG if we are legally obliged to do so, such as supervisory authorities.

6. International transfers of personal data

KMG may use the services of third parties to process your data in accordance with this privacy statement. These parties may be located outside the European Economic Area (EEA).

In principle, this will only occur in third countries providing an adequate level of protection, as decided by the European Commission. If the third country does not provide an adequate level of protection, KMG will only transfer your personal data insofar this is in compliance with the GDPR, for instance by using the standard contractual clauses drawn up by the European Commission for this purpose. 7. Retention period

KMG processes the collected data for as long as necessary for the purposes for which the data were collected or for compliance with legal requirements. Where possible, KMG will anonymize personal data. We have determined the following retention periods:

Purchase of products and services: 2 years after the end of the subscription or transaction
Newsletter subscriptions: until opt-out or 2 years after the last activity
Prize winner information: 2 years after the prize draw
Customer contact: 2 years after the last contact
Account holders: until deletion by the user or 5 years after the last activity
Website visits and cookie information: 1 year after the last visit
Business intelligence analytics: 2 years

8. Security

KMG respects the privacy of every person involved and ensures that personal data are treated confidential and with the greatest possible care. All personal data are securely stored in KMG’s records. KMG also makes reasonable efforts to protect its systems against loss and/or any form of unlawful use or processing and makes use of appropriate technical and organisational measures, taking into account the state of the art, among other things.

9. Your rights in terms of your data

Below you will find the rights you can exercise in terms of your personal data that KMG processes about you. You can submit a request by e-mail to privacy@keesing.com. KMG will respond to such requests as soon as possible, but at the latest within four (4) weeks.

Withdrawal of consent: if processing your personal data by KMG is based on your consent, you may withdraw this consent at any time. For example, if you want to unsubscribe from a certain newsletter or commercial e-mail from one of the brands of KMG, you can do so via the ’Unsubscribe’ link or button, which you can find at the bottom of the received e-mail.

Access and rectification: you can at all times have free access to your personal data processed by KMG and you can adjust this if required.

Objection: you may object at any time to the use of personal data for direct marketing and/or the receipt of marketing information relating to KMG’s products or services or specific offers by e-mail, telephone, post and/or SMS. An unsubscribe option is included in the e-mails sent by KMG. If you use it, you will no longer receive such messages. You cannot unsubscribe for information messages.

Erasure: you can request KMG to delete your personal data and/or account. Some personal data may also be retained after a request for deletion. This is the case, for example, if it is necessary for processing orders or if there is a legal obligation to do so.

Restrictions on processing: you can request a restriction on processing, for example because you dispute the accuracy of the personal data that KMG processes, you do not want your data to be used for direct marketing, or you have objected to KMG processing your personal data.

Data portability: if processing your personal data by KMG is based on your consent and is carried out via automated processes, you can request that the personal data that you have provided to KMG be received in a structured, common and machine-readable form.

Complaint: you can contact us if you have a complaint about the use of personal data by KMG, in addition to the right to lodge a complaint with KMG. You also have the right to submit a complaint to the Data Protection Authority.

This privacy statement was last updated on the 4th of March 2025. We may amend this privacy statement from time to time. We therefore advise you to consult the cookie statement regularly. If there are substantial changes to this privacy statement, a clear notification will follow.
