Business Sales Manager, Keesing Suomi
Since August, Keesing Suomi Oy has been the owner of Onni Kustannus crossword publishing, and is part of Keesing Media Group, the world’s largest company in braintainment, crosswords, and puzzles. Keesing is making a significant investment in the Nordic region, and the acquisition of Onni Kustannus is a crucial step in expanding our presence in the Finnish market.
We are now looking for someone to lead the way for Keesing Suomi – by managing and developing Onni Kustannus’s fantastic portfolio of popular crossword magazines (including the 3 best-selling crossword magazines in Finland in 2022) and expanding our business further in B2B and digital services.
As the Business & Sales Manager, you will lead and have overall responsibility for the business’s results and development in new segments and markets in Finland.
We expect that you have previous experience in a leadership role with responsibilities for business, operations, personnel, and budget.
Ideally, you have a background in publishing with insights into the magazine, evening, and daily press markets, but insights and experience in retail and distribution are also valuable. You will benefit greatly from having a wide network of contacts within the media industry.
Naturally, you are someone who will make both staff and customers feel comfortable. You are not afraid to act to get the job done – you will lead a small team where everyone helps each other.
Overview of the Position
Your main goal is to deliver according to our business plan by increasing both revenue and results from current and future business. You will manage and optimize the operations, including nurturing and developing single copy sales, as well as continuing the development of the company’s offerings to the daily press and consumers in both print and digital formats. You can expect significant opportunities for digitalization of production and publishing, with support from Keesing Media Group’s powerful digital editorial systems and digital consumer products.
Your Responsibilities:
- Be responsible for the operations of Keesing Suomi and ensure all business targets are met.
- Develop the product portfolio and identify new customer groups, sales channels, and business areas.
- Identify potential strategic partnerships to expand the business into other markets.
- Create conditions to complement the current B2C business with a substantial B2B business.
- Coach and develop employees to become the best in the industry, and recruit new talent as the business grows.
- Continuously monitor market developments in close collaboration with other country managers in the Nordic region.
- Be an inspiration and role model by constantly finding new innovative ways to meet our customers’ needs.
About You:
To succeed as the Business & Sales Manager at Keesing Suomi Oy, you need to have a passion for creating and developing new business, sales, and both traditional and digital media development. You are an experienced project manager and may have previously worked as a business manager, department head, or project manager with your own results and budget responsibilities. You thrive in a creative business with clear growth goals, have good analytical and technical skills, and are comfortable making both small and significant business decisions.
Since you will collaborate with colleagues from various teams within Keesing in the Nordic region and internationally, it’s important that you excel in communication, are creative, solution-oriented, and never hesitate to try out new ideas. As a person, you are a team player, curious, driven, and business-focused, and we expect you to be a delightful colleague whom people enjoy working with.
At Keesing Suomi, you will report to Keesing Nordics CEO, Anders Juhlin. You will work independently with the Finnish team in your daily work, but you will also be part of a larger international context. It’s important that you are comfortable taking significant personal responsibility and enjoy working both independently, proactively, and as a leader of a team to achieve set goals.
Brain teasers, crosswords, sudoku, quizzes, comics, language, and wordplay are at the core of our business, and it’s important that you enjoy and have insights into our genre.
Qualifications:
- Strong business and leadership skills.
- Experience in creating new businesses and hands-on sales.
- Good analytical and technical skills.
- Project management experience.
- Strong drive to create digital businesses.
